What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal - Sports Coordinator Intern position at City of Woodbury?
The Woodbury Parks and Recreation Sports Coordinator will gain meaningful first-hand
experience and training in community recreation programming and event management, including youth and adult programs, athletics and special events. This position will be designed according to the needs and interests of both the intern and the Woodbury Parks and Recreation Department.
This Sports Coordinator is seasonal and works under the supervision of the Recreation Program Specialist. The position will assist with the overall management of adult athletic leagues, pickleball, youth tennis, and events, including but not limited to, the development of programs, lessons, athletic leagues, special events, as well as logistics, administrative tasks and customer service.
The position is 32-40 hours a week with a flexible start and end date from March - September. The schedule is primarily daytime hours, Monday – Friday, and could include some evening and weekend hours based on Department needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Assist Recreation Program Specialists with the overall management of the adult athletic leagues, pickleball, youth tennis program, and events, as well as logistics, administrative tasks and customer service.
- Utilize adult athletic league software to create schedules, enter game scores, and to communicate with teams.
- Help generate social media posts and marketing materials for the adult athletic leagues and other recreation programs.
- Ensure adult athletic league staff and participants follow the established policies and procedures.
- Additional hours will be required with onsite leadership at league games, tournaments, and others.
- Responsible for daily errands such as picking up completed scorecard, posting schedule, and preparing equipment, etc.
- Work with assignor of officials and game officials with all aspects of adult athletic league administration including registration, facility scheduling, responding to customer inquiries and concerns.
- Ability to prepare adult athletic league playing surfaces before a game or practice by ensuring they are clean, properly marked, set up with necessary to be used.
- Must be over the age of 18 with a valid Driver's License.
- Ability to communicate professionally over the phone, in person and in written form.
- Familiarities with basic computer software including Microsoft Windows suite of office programs for both accurate and professional looking correspondence including the use of Word, Publisher, PowerPoint and Excel software.
- Must be dependable, well organized and able to manage program responsibilities under limited supervision.
- Has completed or currently enrolled as an undergraduate in Recreation, Park, and Leisure Studies or related field.
- Experience supervising athletic leagues and/or tournaments.
- Knowledge of athletic league rules - specifically softball, soccer, pickleball, volleyball and tennis.
- Experience as a league official or referee.
