CODE ENFORCEMENT COORDINATOR
Under the direction of the Senior Code Enforcement Officer, the Code Enforcement Coordinator is responsible for the intake, processing and tracking of all property maintenance code complaints and City ordinance violations from the public and City department personnel. The person in this position must also communicate the status of all code violations with property owners, real estate agents, contractors and other interested parties. A high school diploma, or GED equivalent, and one (1) year of clerical office experience is required. Education and/or workforce training can be substituted for requirements. The applicant for this position must be able to type at a minimum rate of thirty-five (35) words per minute as determined by testing either through the RI Department of Labor and Training or similar testing online. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and standard office equipment is required. Must also be able to work in a fast-paced office environment, as well as communicate effectively either in person or via telephone, email or in writing with all levels of City administration, the general public, and other interested parties as they pertain to specific code violations.

JOB TITLE: Code Enforcement Coordinator
DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Planning and Development Department/Zoning, Building Inspection & Construction
PAY GRADE/HOURS: GRADE M48B / 40-hour work week

POSITION SUMMARY: The Code Enforcement Coordinator is under general direction of the Senior Code Enforcement Officer/Senior Compliance Inspector and is responsible for performing intake of incoming complaints from various sectors of the public as well as municipal department referrals regarding property maintenance code/City ordinance violations. He/she accurately processes and tracks code/City ordinance violation notices and mailings. He/she also communicates with property owners, city residents, real estate agents, contractors, and inter-municipal personnel providing detail and information regarding code violation statuses, and does related work as required.
DUTIES & RESPOSIBILITIES:
· Collects detailed information and initiates the complaint process.
· Schedules, assigns inspections and investigations to proper personnel.
· Schedules complaints with city residents on private property and also from the public right of way.
· Schedules environmental inspections after receiving complaints from the public or inner‑municipal divisions.
· Processes all notices of code violations including environmental City ordinance citations.
· Mails notices and tracks delivery status.
· Mails and tracks delivery status of Municipal court summons for active code violation cases.
· Inputs recently cited properties into active inspection calendar.
· Inputs and updates all information into operating system (Iworq).
· Answers primary code enforcement telephone line and notifies appropriate inspectors/officers out of office or in the field of complaints and concerns.
· Offers assistance and information regarding housing conditions and dispatches inspection personnel to locations in the event of emergency life safety concerns.
· Serves as preliminary contact between principal staff as well as a source of resources for visitors of the department and the surrounding areas.
· Gathers and analyzes information required for administrative reporting.
· Updates records, files documentation, and maintains filing system/archive.
· Prepares reports of, business correspondence, code violations, and other statistical information concerning division operations.
· Sorts and distributes mail within the office.
· Refers building and inspection division inquiries to appropriate personnel.
· Greet, assist visitors who enter building and inspection division office.
· Notifies personnel of visitors with appointments.
· Gathers and enters data for HUD tracking and CDBG reports.
· Tracks municipal lien certificates for tax intakes, reports violations and lien status.
· Convey a positive professional image by action, communication, and appearance.
· Maintain regular attendance.
· Any other function or duty as required by their supervisor.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
