The City of Wylie's Public Works division is seeking a motivated individual to fill our open Equipment Operator II position. The selected applicant will operate motorized equipment used in the maintenance of various City systems, based upon assigned division. SUPERVISION Supervision is provided by the Supervisor and/or Manager. Hourly rate is based on years of experience. The Public Works division works four ten hour days each week.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Drives dump truck and operates backhoe and other similar pieces of equipment.Operates a motor vehicle in carrying out the business of the department and the City.Excavates water/sewer lines and open trenches.Assists crews in repairs.Acts as a lead and supervises crews out in the field.Works in trenches and confined spaces.Supervises the daily work orders, including turning in completed forms on a daily basis.Responsible for efficient and safe operation, care and appearance of assigned equipment.Demonstrates good judgment to work safely and use equipment properly.Actively identifies, reports, addresses, and follows up on problems and incidents. Actively seeks and recommends operational changes to the direct supervisor.Exercises proper safety precautions at all times.Picks up trash, and keeps storage areas clean and orderly.Performs daily and regular preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment.Completes duties of an Equipment Operator I, when needed.Works in harmony with other crew and department members.Courteous and helpful to citizens.Follows written and oral job instructions.Hears and/or interprets hand signals when on work sites.Available for call-out.Performs as a responsible steward of the public trust and strives for excellence in public service, enhancing the quality of life for all.Acts in a civil, respectful manner at all times to management, co-workers and others.Other duties as may be assignedWhen assigned to Stormwater: Repairs storm drains, ditches, culverts and drainage ways.
