The City of Yuba City is currently recruiting for Kennel Attendant I/II!
Kennel Attendant I: This is the entry level class in the Kennel Attendant series and is flexibly staffed. This class is distinguished from the journey level by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters allocated to the journey level. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning assigned job tasks. As experience accrues, incumbents will perform with increasing independence. This is entry level job class is responsible for maintaining the Animal Services facilities and providing for the care and feeding of impounded animals on a day to day basis. Incumbents allocated to this classification must work effectively and tactfully with diverse individuals as well as handle and control animals in a safe and humane manner. Employees allocated to this job class must possess a high degree of dependability as well as a basic knowledge regarding the humane care of neglected and impounded animals.
Kennel Attendant II:
This is the journey level class within the Kennel Attendant series. This class is distinguished from the Kennel Attendant I by the assignment of the full range of duties and responsibilities. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Incumbents allocated to this job class must work independently and possess the ability to prioritize assignments in an effective and productive manner. Incumbents allocated to this classification must work effectively and tactfully with diverse individuals as well as handle and control animals in a safe and humane manner. Positions in this job classification are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the entry level. Advancement requires the incumbent to meet the minimum qualifications and demonstrate the ability to perform the responsibilities required at the higher level.
Kennel Attendant I
Education: Successful completion of the equivalent of a high school diploma from an accredited institution.
Experience: At least six (6) months of progressively responsible work experience with animals.
License and/or Certification:
Possession of a valid California driver's license.
Kennel Attendant II
Education: Successful completion of the equivalent of a high school diploma from an accredited institution.
Experience: At least one (1) year of progressively responsible work experience successfully performing duties comparable to the City of Yuba City's Kennel Attendant I.
Licenses/Certifications:
Possession of a valid California driver's license.
Possession of a valid Euthanasia Certificate.
Education: Successful completion of the equivalent of a high school diploma from an accredited institution.
Experience: At least six (6) months of progressively responsible work experience with animals.
License and/or Certification:
Possession of a valid California driver's license.
Kennel Attendant II
Education: Successful completion of the equivalent of a high school diploma from an accredited institution.
Experience: At least one (1) year of progressively responsible work experience successfully performing duties comparable to the City of Yuba City's Kennel Attendant I.
Licenses/Certifications:
Possession of a valid California driver's license.
