What are the responsibilities and job description for the Event Assistant - Marketing position at City of Yucaipa?
- Provide accurate, consistent and comprehensive City information and branding, both internally and externally, for effective communication across digital and print platforms, including websites, social media platforms, newsletters, email/text notification platforms, marketing materials, and other authorized mediums of communication;
- Assist in managing the City’s official social media platforms by producing multimedia content, creating social media calendars, writing captions/posts, monitoring engagements and impressions, implementing social media policies, and analyzing the Community Services Department’s overall social media presence;
- Conceptualize creative content and coordinate communications programs across a variety of platforms;
- Collaborate with multiple City staff members in various departments in order to strategize, create and implement effective and engaging multimedia content that successfully promotes City events, programs and services;
- Prepare traditional and digital communication pieces, including flyers, press releases, presentations and reports;
- Support the creation of graphic design, multimedia and print materials to promote City special events, programs and services;
- Support the implementation of official branding and communications policies and procedures to ensure compliance and consistent messaging across the Community Services Department;
- Support the planning and management of large-scale events, including but not limited to Yucaipa Music and Arts Festival, Five Winds Country Music Festival, Autumnfest, Winterfest, 5K Run Series events, and additional community events;
- Support the deployment of new internal and external communication platforms and maintenance of existing communication platforms;
- Screen, refer, and respond to inquiries/direct messages and requests from stakeholders, including residents, businesses, media, regional partner agencies, community groups, non-profit organizations, etc.; and
- Perform other duties as assigned, including evening and weekend special events.
Performance of assigned duties and responsibilities may include prolonged standing, sitting, walking on level or unleveled surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, pushing, pulling, carrying, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. Incumbents may be required to lift, carry and/or push objects weighing 25 pounds or more.EXPERIENCE:
- At least two (2) years of professional experience with responsibilities for promoting and presenting public information, and enhancing brand awareness of a public agency, non-profit organization, college, or any combination of training and experience that provides desired knowledge, skills and abilities.
EDUCATION:
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Completed major coursework from an accredited college or university in marketing, multimedia communication, public relations, social media management, graphic design, or a closely related field is highly desirable.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- First Aid/CPR Certified and/or desire to obtain certification within six months of employment.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Principles and practices of public relations, marketing, graphic design, and/or social media management.
- Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere), social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.), and photography and video production.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Must successfully clear the City's background process, which includes DOJ Live Scan fingerprinting, reference checks, drug and alcohol screening, and a TB test.
- Must attend paid trainings, which include First-Aid/CPR/AED certification, Mandated Reporter Training, and other trainings as required by the City.
