What are the responsibilities and job description for the Site Supervisor - S.T.A.R.S. After School Program position at City of Yucaipa?
- Preparing required materials and supplies for scheduled educational enrichment activities;
- Supervising up to 20 students in a group setting and lead up to 5 on-site part-time staff;
- Recommend and/or assist in the implementation of goals and objectives;
- Maintaining a clean and orderly site;
- Completing the necessary paperwork for the daily administration of the program;
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers, the public, and school district personnel;
- Dealing with challenging situations in an appropriate, effective, and efficient manner;
- Providing exceptional customer service to students, families, school personnel, and the general public; and
- Serving as a role model and leader to students.
Performance of assigned duties and responsibilities may include prolonged standing, sitting, walking on level or unleveled surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, pushing, pulling, carrying, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. Incumbents may be required to lift, carry and/or push objects weighing 25 pounds or more.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must possess a valid California Driver's License.
- Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent.
- College level training is desirable.
- Incumbent employees are expected to avail themselves of specialized adult school, and/or college courses in this field as prescribed by YCJUSD/City policy, and staff development as provided by the City.
- Must have a minimum of one year experience in after-school/childcare programming and/or have completed at least three college courses in child development or a related field.
- Knowledge of child development; instructional processes;
- Skills and methods used in controlling and motivating students, psychology in the care and handling or students, basic arithmetic calculations, operation of standard office equipment, use of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling;
- Abilities to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, learn simple methods and procedures to be followed in an instructional situation, maintain confidentiality of student records, meet schedules and deadlines, read and write English, rapidly learn methods and materials used in a variety of instructional situations, and sit for extended periods of time;
- Significant physical abilities which include reaching/handling, talking/hearing, near and far visual acuity.
- Must successfully clear the City's background process, which includes DOJ Live Scan fingerprinting, reference checks, drug and alcohol screening, and a TB test.
- Must attend paid trainings, which include First-Aid/CPR/AED certification, Mandated Reporter Training, and other trainings as required by the City.
