GENERAL PURPOSEUnder the direction of the Special Operations Supervisor, the Aquatic Fitness Instructor will be responsible for the planning and organization of specific City of Yukon Aquatic Fitness classes. This position will follow all City of Yukon procedures when executing classes to ensure that safety guidelines are followed. This position includes morning and evening work.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • 18 years of age or older•Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification from a nationally accredited agency•One current water fitness certification: FiTOUR, YMCA, AFAA, ACSM, or AEA•Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate skills required while using teaching aidsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: •Previous instructing experience•Previous experience working with a variety of age groups
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •Prepares detailed lesson plans and gathers necessary materials to teach all levels of instruction•Explains, demonstrates, and critiques movements in the water and on deck•Interacts and relates to all ages and abilities•Develops a personal rapport with members and guests, motivating them to participate in fitness classes•Maintains a clean and safe work environment, which includes ensuring that equipment is put away after each class•Choreographs exercise sessions including warm up, aerobic exercise, cool down, and stretch•Accurately reports time worked by clocking in and out of each shift•Customizes session if participants are injured, elderly, pregnant, or have a physical disability•Keeps daily attendance records of participants•Performs rescue assists as necessary•Provides information to the public and patrons in a professional and courteous manner•Keeps pool deck, bath houses, and general area clear of debris and in working order at all times•Assists with documenting accidents and incidents that occur within the facility•Performs other duties as assigned
