GENERAL PURPOSEUnder the direction of the Special Operations Supervisor, the Lifeguard position is charged with the safeguarding of all patrons that enter the confines of the City of Yukon Aquatic Facilities and is responsible for all safety protocols, procedures, and surveillance of the patrons during the general swim hours, private rentals, aquatics programs, and special events. This position requires weekend, evening, and holiday work.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: •16 years of age or older•Must have good interpersonal relationship skills•Must be self-motivated and be able to work as part of a team•Ability and willingness to assume responsibility for work performed•Must be willing to obtain American Red Cross Lifeguarding and Administering Emergency Oxygen Certification (paid for by the City of Yukon)PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: •Good organizational skills, creative, outgoing, detail oriented, professional, and self-motivated•Previous experience in exercising judgement, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with the public•Previous experience as an American Red Cross, Ellis and Associates, or Star Guard Elite Lifeguard•Provided free by the City of Yukon Parks and Recreation DepartmentoAmerican Red Cross Lifeguarding and Administering Emergency Oxygen CertificationoSelect candidates will also have the chance to obtain their Water Safety Instructor Certifications
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •Delivers superior customer service to all that utilize the facility while presenting aprofessional image and attitude•Provides for the safety of pool patrons while in the water and on the deck by maintaining effective scanning of the assigned zone and provides emergency care as needed.•Responds quickly and efficiently to emergency situations following established procedures laid out by the American Red Cross, and provides rescue breathing, CPR, and First Aid as needed while accurately documenting accidents/incidents on the proper form(s)•Maintains current knowledge of all emergency procedures within the designated area•Fairly enforces the rules and regulations of the facilities while cautioning patrons regarding unsafe practices and safety hazards•Attends all scheduled shifts, trainings, and team meetings on-time and prepared•Maintains a safe and clean swimming environment, both indoor and outdoor, which includes cleaning restrooms, vacuuming, skimming, and brushing the pool, picking up trash, emptying trash cans, and securing the areas during and after pool operations•Accurately completes daily facility and equipment inspection forms•Completes hourly chemical testing and reports any abnormalities to management immediately•This is not an all-inclusive list of Essential Duties and Responsibilities, and all staff will be required to perform other duties as assigned
