**GENERAL DESCRIPTION**
Under the direction of the Program Administrator - HIV/AIDS, provides personal assistance to individuals newly diagnosed with HIV, as well as to those who have been living with HIV but facing challenges in accessing or maintaining medical care. This classification works closely with communities of marginalized and vulnerable populations at risk of acquiring HIV. Work involves providing trust-based information and education, helping clients to cope with and overcome fear, walking clients through the complex healthcare system, and helping them to strategize managing personal health needs. Performs other work as requested.
**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
High school diploma, GED, HISET, or equivalent certificate of competency and two years of experience related to HIV care and treatment.
**SUBSTITUTIONS**
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
**CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS**
(Unless otherwise specified below, must possess at the time of appointment and must be maintained current throughout employment in this classification.) Position(s) of this classification may require a valid Louisiana driver's license. If license is required, must be maintained throughout employment in this position.
**OTHER JOB ASPECTS**
Regular travel within the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Area is required for this position. Must have reliable transportation to travel throughout the area in support of clients.
