Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger management, journal entries, and month-end close
- Prepare and analyze financial statements to ensure GAAP compliance and accuracy
- Develop and monitor budgets and financial forecasts in partnership with department leaders
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and grant financial reporting
- Perform regular bank and account reconciliations to maintain financial integrity
- Assist with annual audits and serve as the primary contact for external auditors
- Ensure compliance with non-profit accounting standards, including fund management for restricted and unrestricted funds
- Strengthen internal controls and identify opportunities to improve accounting processes
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred but not required)
- Experience: 4-5 years in accounting, with at least 2 years in a non-profit setting
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of non-profit accounting and fund management
- Software Proficiency: Experience with QuickBooks, Sage, or similar accounting systems; advanced Excel skills
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to assess financial data and develop strategic insights
- Detail-Oriented & Independent: Strong organizational skills and ability to manage tasks efficiently
- Communication & Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders
