Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Director, Performance and Analytics, to join our Performance & Analytics Team. Operating as a Director of Performance & Analytics, you will play a pivotal role in leveraging data to support strategic decision-making and drive operational efficiency. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across the entire organization to provide comprehensive Business Intelligence (BI) solutions, develop insightful reports, perform advanced analytics, and create user-friendly dashboards.


Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Business Intelligence (BI): Develop and maintain a robust BI infrastructure that supports data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Dashboard Development: Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and data visualizations (Power BI, Azure, and Salesforce) to provide real-time insights and facilitate self-serving analytics for end-users.
  • Analytics: Gather, analyze, and interpret large volumes of structured and unstructured data from various sources, such as databases, spreadsheets, and external systems, to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
  • Communicate complex data findings clearly and concisely through compelling visualizations, narratives, and presentations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs, define organization requirements, identify risks, and translate them into data visualization and dashboard specifications.
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of data used in visualizations by conducting data validation, reconciliation, and data cleansing activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, and other internal stakeholders, to understand data requirements, resolve data-related issues, and drive the adoption of data-driven decision-making.
  • Establish standardized reporting processes and dashboards for executive leadership
  • Provide training and support to end-users on data visualization tools, best practices, and dashboard usage to ensure effective utilization and adoption of visualizations across the organization.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data visualization and dashboards. Proactively identify opportunities to enhance existing visualizations and propose innovative solutions.
  • Strong communication skills for translating data insights to non-technical audiences


Target Start Date: May 15, 2025

Location: Must reside within 2 hours of the Maryland Office

Time Commitment and Compensation: $86,793 - $117,425 & is subject to a geographic differential which could increase or decrease it by 4% or 8% depending on city of residence. We are an organization that prioritizes equity so we do not negotiate salaries.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduate degree in quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science) preferred and/or 3 years of demonstrated success in Data & Analytics or Strategic Consulting role.
  • Exemplifies City Teaching Alliance’s core values and values working with a diverse set of teammates and stakeholders.
  • Experience developing dashboards and performing analysis in a client-facing role, collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements, and building solutions using an iterative approach. Advanced proficiency with:
  • Power BI
  • Salesforce or similar enterprise-level systems, data cloud, and interactive data visualization
  • Microsoft Azure and Azure Data Factory
  • Strong analytical skills: Ability to define the problem/opportunity, conduct analysis, develop concrete recommendations that account for the end user’s perspective, and determine the implications of results for future work.
  • Proven experience performing complex data analysis; deep understanding of relational databases with experience writing SQL queries and use of related query tools preferred
  • Strong statistical analysis skills: Solid knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics and modeling (e.g., regressions, correlations, model performance metrics)
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects: Meet deadlines and keep a close eye on details.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and get buy-in with stakeholders at all levels: Understand the perspectives of others and provide consumer-centric support.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills: Ability to convey complex information clearly and compellingly for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with a strong ability to contribute positively to a team environment.


Highly Preferred:

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Prior experience in the education sector strongly preferred
  • Background in recruitment analytics or talent acquisition metrics
  • Ability to understand the problem, conceptualize a quantitative solution, write the code, debug, and deploy in a production environment.
  • Build out data pipelines across multiple platforms and API’s
