What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Scientist - In Vivo Pharmacology position at City Therapeutics?
The Senior Scientist, In Vivo Pharmacology, will play a key role in evaluating and developing RNAi-based therapeutics for CNS indications. This role will be the primary in vivo pharmacologist in support of our CNS efforts, will be responsible for designing and executing in vivo experiments, and will work collaboratively with the Biology, Platform, and Chemistry teams amongst others. Responsibilities
- Design and execute in vivo experiments in the CNS space
- Lead the development of mouse and/or rat models of CNS disease as needed
- Screen potential therapeutics in vivo
- Represent the In Vivo Pharmacology team in project team meetings
- Work collaboratively with project leads and representatives from other content expertise areas
- Present findings in project team meetings and in company-wide science meetings
- PhD in biology, neuroscience or related field with at least 3 years of relevant experience (or equivalent) working in the CNS space. Experience in industry or drug-development is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of CNS biology and disease models.
- Proficiency in intrathecal, intracisternal magna and/or intracerebroventricular administration in mice or rats a must
- Ability to perform Intravenous and other routine modes of administration in mice and/or rats
- Proficiency in performing brain dissections and isolation of different regions of the brain for downstream analysis
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-team environment.
- Ability to perform ex vivo analysis of tissues (RT-qPCR, western blot, ELISA) a plus
- Strong record-keeping and presentation skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a nimble and innovative environment
