Position Summary : Memory Care Coordinator is responsible for the planning, coordinating, and directing of a wide and varied scope of activities and programming which meet the spiritual, emotional, intellectual, vocational, social, physical, and environmental needs of the residents. The programming is designed to meet the needs and to develop future programs to help meet the wellness needs of the residents. The development of the programming must meet the requirements of running the memory care department along with social service requirements.
Essential Job Functions :
1. Leads all efforts in memory care programming, consistent with Memory Care Program.
2. Manages and direct the functions of the Memory Care Program to include ongoing staff training and assistance in program implementation.
3. Evaluates resident activity needs and working in collaboration with community care staff members explore opportunities for resident engagement and plan and schedule all daily activities for the Memory Care Program based on individual needs and resident interest.
4. Utilizes training tools consistent with the Memory Care Program Orientation and Education Trainer Manual and Workbook relating to dementia care training. CPI for Dementia is required as well as CPI.
5. Utilizes the Playbook and Activities Recipe Book daily.
6. Knows the ability, interest, and participation level of each resident in the Memory Care unit.
7. Promote a healthy community culture for all residents and employees. This is a whole-person approach to health and wellness which includes eight dimensions of wellness : Emotional, Environmental, Health Services, Intellectual, Physical, Social, Spiritual and Vocational. Through these efforts we can ensure and exceed residents’ wellness needs relating to their mind, body, and soul, which may also have a positive effect on the employees, as a result.
Education Required (Preferred) :
- High school diploma or general education degree
- A degree in a related (nursing, social services, therapeutic recreation) field preferred
- Previous leadership experience in a specialized dementia program preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience with program facilitation and activity program development
- Knowledge of and experience with caring for persons with dementia
- Require prior experience in caring for people with dementia and in developing and
