Mission of Position: The mission of the Communications and Marketing Director is to be the lead connector in developing communications and marketing materials for AmeriCorps member recruitment, development, and general brand awareness, lead on sitewide recruitment and outreach events, and manage the Communications and Operations made to further City Year Detroit & Cleveland brand awareness and revenue goals.
- Oversees the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategic marketing and communications plan for the site in partnership with the Executive Director, Executive Team and local board of directors.
- Leads the implementation of all communications media, including written, visual, digital, and electronic media.
- Determines appropriate strategies for reaching communications and external relations goals, research, identifies, writes, edits news releases/advisories, places executive leaders and board members in the media, solicits media, develops, and manages publication production, and web development.
- Writes messages, written reports, and other materials to be used by the sites board and senior leaders in presentations to a variety of stakeholders in publications and public venues.
- Provides leadership to the Sr. Manager of Community Partnership and ACME
- Works closely with the Development team to communicate the organization’s development goals, major events and funding priorities.
The position is responsible for the consistency of brand materials and key messages, and is critical for designing, developing, and implementing marketing and communications strategies to develop and continuously improve the reputation/brand City Year Detroit
