The CityLab High School is seeking a highly qualified Assistant Principal. The Assistant Principal will utilize a team approach in working with students and teachers under their supervision. The Assistant Principal, working with guidance/school adjustment counselors, teachers, and the building administrative team including the Principal, will be an instructional leader and will monitor and supervise the individual academic and social progress of students. They will work with other key staff to open communication among members of the school community.
REPORTS TO: Principal and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
Duties include but are not limited to the following. Additions and modifications to these representative duties and responsibilities are under the purview of the Superintendent of Schools and the Principal.

Schedule, salary and benefits will be determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Revere School Committee and the Revere Administrators Association. This position is considered a Level Two Administrator and is currently scheduled to work 206.5 days per year.

- Ensure the smooth daily operation of the building
- Maintain student records and work with Student Information System directors to maintain and secure records
- Ensure that students comply with attendance and discipline policies of the Revere Public Schools
- Administer the attendance regulations and policies of Revere Public Schools and maintain attendance records as prescribed by district policy and the district’s Student Information System.
- Coordinate communication with parents regarding attendance issues both proactively and as issues become emergent.
- Engage the services of the RPS attendance and truancy officers as appropriate
- Administer the student discipline regulations and policies of the Revere Public Schools and maintain discipline records as prescribed by district policy and the district’s Student Information System.
- Coordinate communication with parents regarding discipline issues both proactively and as issues become emergent.
- Engage the services of other RPS employees such as the School Adjustment Counselor as appropriate
- Assist with the registration of new students and coordinate the transition for them and their families
- Assign students to homerooms and classes as directed by the principal
- Work with the administration in supervising academic support and extra-curricular programs
- Communicate effectively with student caregivers
- Assist teachers in the development of their craft
- Evaluate teachers as assigned
- Assign and supervise substitute teachers
- Manage building staff attendance system and collaborate with HR regarding employee absences and leaves.
- Assist the principal with directing the daily operation and management of the school building
- Assume all duties of the principal in their absence
- Participate annually in the crafting of the School Improvement Plan
- Develop and recommend suggestions for improvements in the aforementioned procedures and protocols
- Assume any other duties or assignments assigned by the Principal or Superintendent
QUALIFICATIONS
- Hold a current license from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a School Principal/Assistant Principal Grade 5-12 and SEI Endorsement.
- Master’s or higher earned degree from an approved and accredited college or university.
- Evidence of at least three years of satisfactory full-time paid experience as a professional public or private school educator.
- Attendance at a summer or fall session of course Observing and Analyzing Teaching (or similar) within first year.
- Participate in any necessary Student and Administrative Information System training.
- Be knowledgeable of the local, state and federal education laws, rules and regulations as well as current trends in urban education.

- Outstanding interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and respect for others with ability to establish rapport with and relate to students, families and co-workers with respect, compassion, tact and understanding.
- Experience leading teams, managing various projects, building strong relationships and working with multiple stakeholders and teams.
- Talent for communicating effectively both verbally and in writing in English and preferably in one or more languages representing our community, currently Spanish/Portuguese/Arabic.
- Ability to work with a variety of current technologies including Microsoft Office, Google Suites, Powerschool, etc.
