JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, completes daily work orders related to meter services including installation, termination, lockouts, repairs and resolving problems in the field.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Turn on water service for new customers, turn off service for closed or delinquent accounts and record.
- Meter readings for final billings in assigned territory.
- Respond to emergency calls for assistance; investigate customer complaints related to pressure/flow, leaks, or high consumption.
- Replace defective meters and control valves, leaking gaskets, damaged boxes, and lids at the metering site.
- Assist on large meter crew performing maintenance on meters sized 3" to 10".
- Perform scheduled change-outs of aged or malfunctioning meters, 3/4" and 1" in size.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assist Meter Reading in facilitating safe access to metering sites by repairing reported defects and clearing impediments at the metering site.
- Performs repairs and preventative services on all water and wastewater infrastructure including but not limited to:
- Water mains
- Water services
- Water taps
- AMI infrastructure
- Fire hydrants
- Valves
- Sewer mains
- Sewer services
- Manholes
- Cleanouts
