About the Job
We are seeking a highly motivated Asphalt Laborer I to be an important part of our team. The Asphalt Laborer I will play a key role in maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency, while actively participating in hands-on work. The Asphalt Laborer I is an entry-level position responsible for assisting in various tasks related to asphalt paving and restoration. This role requires at least 1 year of experience in the field and involves supporting the paving crew to ensure projects are completed efficiently and safely. This role is critical in ensuring the successful completion of asphalt projects within Cityside Fiber Networks Construction Division. This opportunity sits within Cityside Fiber Networks Construction Division (CFN CX). This team is responsible for all construction activities that have not been completed by general contractors. You will operate in a fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous environment and excel in hitting the companys objectives. To be successful, you will have superior communication and organizational skills.
Responsibilities
- Understand Cityside Fibers core purpose and values and be passionate about what we do.
- Assist in the preparation and execution of asphalt paving projects.
- Perform tasks such as shoveling, raking, and smoothing asphalt.
- Help with asphalt restoration, including minor repairs and patching.
- Clear and prepare sites for paving operations.
- Set up and remove traffic control signs, cones, and barricades as needed.
- Load and unload materials and equipment.
- Operate basic construction equipment and tools.
- Maintain and clean equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Report any unsafe conditions or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
- Work closely with other team members to ensure project efficiency.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, safety protocols and company policies.
- Work in and contribute to an atmosphere of trust and integrity with fellow employees to ensure the overall success of Cityside Fiber.
- Be available to perform possible weekend or overtime work depending on project requirements.
Qualifications
- High energy individual who is willing to be an integral part of a high growth service provider who puts people first, dares to be different and has fun disrupting an industry
- High school degree or equivalent practical experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in asphalt paving or a related field
- Basic knowledge of asphalt paving techniques and equipment
- Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks
- Ability to work in various weather conditions
- Possession of relevant certifications in asphalt paving or construction is a plus
- Experience communicating to and collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Proven history of excellent customer service and ability to build relationships
- Excellent organizational skills- Ability to multi-task and be highly responsive to internal and external clients
- Demonstrated intense customer focus
- Demonstrated highest level of integrity, intellectual honesty and strong work ethic
- Consistent effort, intense commitment, and willingness to go above and beyond when needed
- Ability to lift heavy materials and equipment and perform physically demanding tasks
- Must be able to lift at least 75 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks
- Valid state drivers license, good driving record, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance
Location
Our Headquarters and field offices are located in Irvine. Our local yard is location in Tustin. You will be required to travel to project/customer sites to fulfill job responsibilities.
Compensation
Starting at $20 an hour (actual starting rate may vary based on candidates qualifications, skills and years of experience).
$200 Work Boot Stipend (Received Annually)
$40 Cell Phone Stipend (Received Monthly)
