Sharing Life Community Outreach Fall Food Pantry, Resources, and Utilities Assistance Coordinators

Sharing Life Community Outreach in Mesquite, TX welcomes AmeriCorps members in collaboration with CitySquare.
This fall, we invite members to serve their communities in one of these roles:
- The AmeriCorps ePantry Coordinator will provide daily support to staff and volunteers in the ePantry (online order-ahead food pantry program) and coordinate orders for timely distribution to clients.
- The AmeriCorps Clothing Coordinator manages the volunteers and the clothing department and assists with client support activities in the clothing department. Clothing items are provided free of charge to individuals and families in need.
- The AmeriCorps Pantry Coordinator will support all activities of the client choice food pantry, including teaching new volunteers how to distribute food, stocking of the pantry, and serving clients with compassion.
- The AmeriCorps Utilities Assistance Coordinator will assist clients with financial assistance to pay their utility bills as part of the Utility Assistance Program.
- The AmeriCorps Financial Empowerment Coordinator will manage the volunteers and the VITA site operations for the tax preparation season. Throughout the year, the AmeriCorps Financial Empowerment Coordinator will support rent assistance clients, employment services participants, and training program students in the and assist with client support activities in the Financial Empowerment Center (FEC) programs.
- The AmeriCorps Backpack Program Coordinator will support the Nourish2Flourish feeding program to provide weekly bags to school-age children with 5 days’ worth of breakfast, lunch, and snack items.

Benefits of becoming a CitySquare AmeriCorps Member:
- Members will be paid $4,500 (broken down and paid in twice monthly installments during the term- $1,234 per month)
- Members receive a $1,824.07 education award at the end of their term (can be used for future tuition or student loans)

- Some service positions may fulfill college and university internship requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Available from September 5 – December 22, 2023
- Available 32 hours per week during business hours, Monday - Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm with the possibility of Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 4:30pm to 7pm
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Deferred action and temporary permanent resident do not qualify)
- Up to date COVID-19 vaccination
- Able to access reliable transportation
- Able to pass a criminal background check
Preferred qualifications:
- Some College and/or professional experience, and/or experience in a non-profit setting
- Spanish/English bilingual
