Civica Law has an immediate opening in its Irvine office for an attorney with 5-15 years experience in civil litigation and municipal law (with valid CA Bar license). The attorney in this position would be responsible for managing cases and directing / supervising attorneys. Our areas of practice focus on serving cities and counties in protecting and improving their communities through code enforcement, housing standards, receiverships, nuisance abatement, land use and zoning law. Attorneys are responsible for representing the firms clients in all cases with the goal of timely, effective, and efficient resolution. This is a Full-time, Exempt position reporting to the Managing Attorney. Responsibilities : Be proficient in civil State and Federal Court processes, procedures, and filings. Conduct skilled legal research, analysis, and advising. Draft persuasive and effective, independent documents for court filings, from initial pleadings, discovery and discovery motions, dispositive motions, and trial filings. Coordinate with other attorneys and staff for efficient and timely case progress. Provide clear, organized communication with firm legal team, clients, and opposing counsel. Effectively manage caseload and ensure team accountability to meet deadlines. Stay up to date on changes in law and legal procedures. Participate in the development and implementation of legal strategies. Attend necessary court hearings and other legal proceedings. Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications : Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Well-organized with attentive to detail. Thorough understanding of court and related proceedings and documentation. Thorough understanding of proper maintenance of all legal records. Superior proficiency in administrative tasks. Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
