Job Overview
We are seeking End Dump Truck Drivers to join our team. The ideal candidates will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating an end dump truck to transport materials such as dirt, gravel, sand to various construction sites, strictly adhering to DOT regulations, company policies, and safety guidelines. This role requires someone who is safety conscience, has an attention to detail, excellent driving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members.
Responsibilities
Typical job duties include but are not limited to:
- Safely drive an end dump truck following all DOT regulations as well as state and local traffic laws.
- Transport materials (gravel, sand, dirt, etc.) to designated construction sites efficiently, timely and safely.
- Adhere to all company, DOT, and OSHA rules and regulations at all times.
- Verify directions with dispatch, checking loads to ensure proper and safe loading, and verifying the delivery location.
- Ensure materials being transported do not exceed weight restrictions and are properly loaded onto the dump truck.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the truck, including tires, brakes, lights, fluids, and other equipment.
- Monitor performance as required to complete tasks timely and correctly.
- Ensure safety equipment is available and in good working condition.
- Keep accurate records/logbooks of deliveries, maintenance, and other relevant information.
- Ensure the truck is clean, in good working condition, and adheres to all safety regulations.
- Assist with all aspects of the job including basic labor responsibilities.
- Must be able to take instructions and guidance from supervisors and management.
- Other duties as may be assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Minimum qualifications:
- Must possess a valid Texas issued commercial driver’s license, Class A, preferably with no restrictions.
- Minimum of one (1) year verifiable DOT experience and be at least 23 years of age or older.
- Must demonstrate driving ability.
- Must not have more than two (2) chargeable or preventable motor vehicle accidents in the past five (5) years.
- Must not have more than three (3) moving violations in the past three (3) years.
- Must not have any convictions for offenses involving the operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by a controlled substance.
- Must not have any convictions for offenses involving the operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol in the last five (5) years.
- Must demonstrate excellent safety awareness, and a willingness to comply with all company policies and safety standards.
- Must be able to meet all DOT requirements, including passing pre-employment screenings (drug test), background checks, and possess a current medical card.
- Ability and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external customers.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in the civil construction industry.
- Basic knowledge of truck maintenance and inspection.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift, pull, and push a minimum of 50 lbs., bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat, twist, and climb and ability to sit for an extended period.
- Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, loud noises, and working outdoors.
- Must be able to wear protective equipment while on the job, as necessary.
