Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the Camp Director, the Program Coordinator is responsible for developing, organizing, and overseeing camp schedules and programming. This role requires a detail-oriented and creative individual who can balance structured activities with flexibility, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience for both campers and staff. This role requires strong leadership, organization, and mentorship skills to effectively guide staff and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for campers.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the program team in planning and implementing camp activities, performances, and events.
- Lead daily program schedule meetings and facilitate weekly program planning meetings.
- Coordinate program team schedules, ensuring appropriate staffing for all camp activities.
- Maintain camper safety and supervision, creating a structured and inclusive environment.
- Report unusual incidents and complete required documentation in a timely manner.
- Uphold Civitan Foundation’s confidentiality policies and adhere to state and federal regulations.
- Act as a positive role model, demonstrating professionalism in language, dress, and behavior.
- Engage with campers individually and in groups, promoting choice, responsibility, and independence.
- Attend staff meetings and required training sessions.
- Assist with staff education and continued training of direct service providers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in program planning and implementation, preferably in a camp or recreational setting.
- Education: AA or Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR a combination of relevant experience and training.
- Leadership & Teamwork: Ability to supervise, mentor, and collaborate with a diverse team.
- Communication & Problem-Solving: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Ethical Conduct: Maintain integrity, impartiality, and confidentiality at all times.
- Physical Ability: Capable of lifting/moving 50 lbs. and working in outdoor conditions, including extreme heat.
- Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
