Summary of Position:
The Advisor, Production & Revenue Accounting (PRA) will drive the successful implementation of SAP for our upstream oil & gas operations, with a strong focus on regulatory reporting compliance at the federal level and in states such as Colorado (CO), Texas (TX), and New Mexico (NM). This position will be responsible for leading and managing the SAP PRA work stream, collaborating closely with the IT and Accounting teams, and ensuring successful SAP system integration of business processes into SAP while maintaining compliance with industry regulations. Post-implementation, this role will serve as the functional Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing ongoing support, training, and system enhancements for the PRA functions.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- SAP Implementation & Process Alignment
- Act as the primary liaison between the SAP PRA team, Marketing, and IT. Ensure seamless collaboration, understanding of technical requirements, and delivery of solutions that meet both business and IT objectives.
- Leverage your expertise in S/4HANA RISE to guide the business and IT teams through the digital transformation, focusing on streamlining the integration of SAP PRA with other SAP modules and non-SAP systems.
- Define and document business requirements specific to upstream Production & Revenue Accounting.
- Review and ensure SAP configurations align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements (including federal and state royalty reporting), maintaining a Clean Core Methodology.
- Collaborate with technical teams to design, test, and validate system integrations with production systems, financial modules, and regulatory reporting tools with an emphasis on S/4HANA RISE capabilities. Ensure optimal system performance, data integrity, and compliance.
- Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) and resolve implementation issues.
- Support data migration, validation, and reconciliation efforts for revenue and production data and Joint Venture financial data.
- User Training & Change Management
- Develop and deliver SAP training programs tailored to production & revenue accounting teams
- Conduct hands-on training sessions to ensure a smooth transition from legacy systems to SAP.
- Provide guidance on best practices for ownership allocation, revenue distribution, and compliance reporting.
- Assist with change management efforts to enhance user adoption and minimize disruptions.
- Act as the primary support contact during the go-live and stabilization phases.
- Post-Implementation Support & Continuous Improvement
- Serve as the PRA Subject Matter Expert for SAP post-implementation. Provide ongoing system support, troubleshooting, and process optimizations.
- Identify areas for process improvement within SAP PRA and S/4HANA RISE to drive efficiency, scalability, and automation. Support business stakeholders in optimizing business workflows and system operations.
- Assist with SAP upgrades, patches, and new feature rollouts.
- Maintain user guides and troubleshooting resources.
- Prepare and maintain system documentation, process flows, and technical specifications. Provide regular reporting and updates to management and stakeholders on project progress and system performance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Operations, Land, Finance, and IT teams to ensure data integrity, reconciliation, and process efficiency.
- Work with regulatory and compliance teams to maintain accurate royalty and tax reporting.
- Collaborate with external consultants and SAP vendors to implement best practices.
- Align SAP reporting and analytics with business objectives.
- Compliance & Regulatory Support
- Ensure SAP meets federal and state compliance standards for production and revenue reporting.
- Support federal and state royalty audits, severance tax reporting, etc.
- Maintain internal controls and SOX compliance related to SAP processes.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Minimum of 12 years’ experience in accounting
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in oil and gas required, upstream preferred.
- Strong knowledge of revenue recognition standards, federal and state royalty reporting, and severance taxes.[VA1]
- Demonstrated experience with SAP S/4HANA RISE, including cloud-based implementations and migrations.
- Expert level proficiency in PRA, demonstrated by in-depth and/or breadth of expertise
- Experience in training end-users and leading system adoption efforts.
- SAP implementation experience preferred; familiarity with SAP Fiori, SAP Cloud Platform, and related technologies is beneficial.
Travel & Additional Requirements:
- Work Location: Work is performed at a CIVI location Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays as business needs allow and with manager approval.
- Schedule: Traditional 40-hour workweek or an alternative schedule of 9-hour workdays Monday through Thursday and 4-hour workdays on Friday, as business needs allow and with manager approval.
