Job Summary
Operate equipment to package final dry product while ensuring accuracy, efficiency and product integrity meet or exceed company standards.
Essential Job Functions
- Operate equipment to package dry product while ensuring accuracy, efficiency and product integrity meet or exceed company standards
- Inspects packaged product to verify conformance to specifications, i.e. ensure bags are sealed correctly, weights are within range and printing is correct.
- Perform scale calibration, magnetic separator and metal detection verification checks and report any abnormal findings to management
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and communicate service requests to the maintenance department as necessary
- Perform repairs and preventative maintenance as necessary
- Maintain a clean work area
- Complete and confirm all paperwork (number of pallets, rejects, etc.) is correctly completed.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and food safety policies
- Collect samples as required
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn operating packaging equipment
- Ability to perform repairs and preventative maintenance on packaging equipment
- Ability to multi-task

- Ability to follow standard operating procedures
- Basic mathematical and mechanical skills;
- General computer use skills, e.g. Excel;
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- This position works 12-hour rotating shifts (36 / 48 hours per week alternating, which includes days, weekends, holidays and overtime.
- This position works in a manufacturing environment, which includes exposures to moving mechanical parts, high noise levels, vibrations, varying atmospheric conditions and temperatures, hazardous chemicals, high pressure steam, and dust
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds frequently
- Ability to remain in a stationary standing position up to 100% of shift;
- Ability to walk extended distances frequently, ascend/descend stairs and ladders frequently
- Must be able to wear full-face respirator and protective equipment for testing. This includes minimal facial hair in order to ensure proper fit in of respirator in accordance with OSHA regulations. Must complete annual medical monitoring program, including pulmonary function testing.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma / GED
- Production and Maintenance experience preferred
