Experienced Heavy Equipment/Diesel Mechanic

C.J. Hughes Construction Co., Inc. is currently seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment/Diesel Mechanic to join our shop team in Huntington, WV. This position is focused on the repair and maintenance of diesel engines and heavy construction equipment. While primarily based in the shop, there may be occasional travel to the field to perform on-site repairs when necessary.
Primary Responsibilities
· Diagnose and repair diesel engines and heavy equipment, including skid steers, excavators, dump trucks, and backhoes.
· Perform routine maintenance, engine work, hydraulic and electrical system repairs.
· Conduct fluid checks and replacements, and inspect critical components for wear and tear.
· Keep detailed and accurate service records, repair orders, and parts usage reports.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in the shop.
· Occasionally assist with field service work when required.
Requirements
· 4 years of experience working on diesel engines and heavy equipment.
· Strong knowledge of diesel systems, hydraulics, and electrical troubleshooting.
· Must supply your own tools.
· Valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not required).
· Must be able to lift 50 lbs and handle physical aspects of the job.
· Willingness to occasionally travel for field repairs if needed.
· Familiarity with reading manuals, schematics, and using diagnostic tools.
· Basic computer skills for inputting work orders and reports.
· Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
