(CJH) is offering an immediate career as a mobile Equipment inspector to serve a large construction company currently working throughout the Midwest and southeast.
Job Description
Travel to various job sites performing scheduled and routine inspections and tasks on vehicles, trailers and construction equipment. These inspections include visual checks of safety devices, fluids, tires, tracks, hydraulic lines, engine components, basic maintenance, evaluation and other responsibilities the will be required.
Job Duties
· Conducting inspections:
Performing routine and scheduled inspections of heavy equipment and vehicles, including visual checks of components like tires, tracks, hydraulic lines, engine compartments, and safety devices.
· Functional testing:
Testing the functionality of key equipment systems, safety systems and hydraulics, electrical systems, brakes, and lifting mechanisms to verify safe and proper operation.
· Identifying defects:
Recognizing signs of wear, damage, corrosion, cracks, leaks, and other potential issues that could compromise equipment safety and performance.
· Documentation:
Maintaining detailed inspection reports, including photographs, noting any defects or concerns found, and recording repair recommendations. Recognize trends that need to be managed in the future.
· Compliance checks:
Ensuring adherence to all relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies regarding heavy equipment maintenance. Ensuring current license stickers, DOT Inspections, safety inspections and any and all required governing body inspections.
· Communication and collaboration:
Reporting findings to maintenance teams, operators, and supervisors, discussing necessary repairs, and coordinating with relevant parties to address issues promptly.
· Education
Engage leadership and crew members onsite and teach them how to properly care for maintaining all onsite equipment
Required Skills
· Mechanical knowledge:
A strong understanding of the mechanics and operation of vehicles and construction equipment, including safety systems, engine systems, hydraulics, and electrical components.
· Inspection techniques:
Proficiency in visual inspection methods, including close examination of parts for wear, damage, and potential safety hazards.
· Technical skills:
Ability to use inspection tools and equipment such as gauges, measuring devices, and diagnostic tools.
· Safety awareness:
A commitment to safety protocols and procedures when inspecting heavy equipment on job sites.
· Documentation & Communication skills:
Clear and accurate record-keeping of inspection findings and repair recommendations. Continuous communication with appropriate leadership to establish corrective actions and a plan forward.
· Certification (may be required):
Depending on the region, a relevant heavy equipment inspector certification may be needed.
Conditions for Employment
· Maintain a valid state driver’s license
· Work Overtime as needed
· Possibility to be on call
· Work at various job sites and travel as necessary
· Wear and maintain personal protective equipment as deemed necessary
· Pass a Background check and proper drug testing
· Constant communication with leadership to establish a schedule
