Position Overview:
The Director of WMS Implementation is responsible to lead the end-to-end deployment, optimization, and continuous improvement of Warehouse Management System (WMS) across our network. This position requires deep expertise in WMS rollouts, system configuration, and business process development to enhance operational efficiency and maintain data integrity.
The Director will manage the standard golden template implementation as well as full WMS product lifecycle from feature design to rollout, as well as system troubleshooting and defect tracking. Person will manage project timelines, budgets and align with key stakeholders on expectations through the implementation process. The role will serve as a functional expert on the WMS application, collaborating with all functional teams, including design, development, and support, to ensure a full solution with optimal performance.
WMS Implementation & Project Management:
- Lead the end-to-end rollout of WMS across warehouse including the project team - technical consultants, system analysts, and warehouse personnel.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive WMS project plan, timeline, milestones, budgets and resource allocation aligned with business objectives.
- Collaborate with IT department to manage the administrative function that tracks WMS product development lifecycle implementations.
- Act as the main point of contact for all project stakeholders, providing regular updates on progress, risks, and resolution strategies.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues during implementation and proactively take ownership of an issue resolution or project deliverable to completion.
System Configuration, Integration & Optimization:
- Ensure configuration of WMS to align with warehouse workflows, master data management, warehouse efficiencies, and business requirements.
- Optimize golden template and system functionality to drive efficiency, accuracy, and data integrity, maintaining master data management best practices across warehouse operations, with minimal customizations.
- Implement best practices for system usage, ensuring consistent and standardized processes across sites.
- Ensure seamless integration between WMS and other enterprise software systems, improving overall data flow and system interoperability.
- Translate client/business requirements into system requirements, through analysis of customer/ operational requirements and solution design.
Testing, Troubleshooting & Compliance:
- Collaborate with IT teams and WMS teams to establish testing environments and full plan for new configurations.
- Conduct rigorous system testing, including integration, user acceptance testing (UAT), and performance testing.
- Document and resolve any system defects, gaps, or performance issues, working closely with vendors or IT teams to drive solutions.
- Ensure the WMS meets all compliance, regulatory, and operational standards within the 3PL industry.
Training, Change Management & User Adoption:
- Coordinate with Learning and Development to execute a comprehensive training program to educate warehouse teams on WMS functionality, workflows, and best practices.
- Support hands-on training sessions, including creating user manuals and product documentation, guides, and other training resources.
- Provide ongoing support and coaching to end-users, ensuring smooth adoption and optimal system usage.
- Drive change management initiatives, helping teams ramp up while maintaining productivity and engagement through influencing others and working collaboratively as a catalyst for change
Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement:
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure WMS success and warehouse efficiency.
- Analyze post-launch WMS performance, identifying opportunities for further system optimization.
- Provide regular project updates, budget reports, and recommendations to executive leadership.
- Work cross-functionally to refine system features, ensuring continued improvement and scalability.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5 years of experience in WMS project management, system rollouts, and logistics software implementations in a warehouse or 3PL environment.
- Proficient in WMS, including configuration, troubleshooting, and data management.
- 5 years of experience in warehouse operations, supply chain processes, and 3PL logistics.
- Strong project management skills, from planning to execution.
- Proficient experience with software testing, system integration, and performance optimization.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder communication, and change management skills.
- Objective and resilient when presenting findings and insights.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Working Conditions
- This role may require 25% to 50% travel to warehouse locations or vendor sites.
Flexibility with work hours may be required during periods of system upgrades or project deadlines.
