Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Principal to join our leadership team. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, a passion for student growth, and the interpersonal skills to support staff, students, and families. This role requires a hands-on leader who is deeply invested in fostering a positive school culture and contributing to instructional excellence across all grade levels.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership
- Support curriculum implementation and instructional practices that promote high academic achievement
- Collaborate with teachers on lesson planning, assessment, and data-driven instruction
- Lead and participate in professional development initiatives
- Observe and provide constructive feedback to faculty
- Assist in curriculum mapping and long-term planning initiatives
Student Support & Discipline
- Promote a respectful, safe, and inclusive learning environment
- Oversee student discipline with a positive, consistent approach aligned with school values
- Support social-emotional development and behavior interventions
- Collaborate with families to ensure student success and well-being
Staff Collaboration & Supervision
- Build strong relationships with teachers and staff, promoting teamwork and shared vision
- Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and mentoring faculty and staff
- Help lead school-wide initiatives and events
- Serve as a supportive, present leader in classrooms and common areas throughout the day
School Operations & Communication
- Support day-to-day school operations and schedules
- Communicate clearly and regularly with parents and staff
- Participate in planning and coordinating school programs, events, and celebrations
- Work closely with the Head of School and Judaic Director to align academic and cultural priorities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field (Master’s degree or certification in educational leadership strongly preferred)
- Minimum of 3–5 years of successful classroom teaching experience, ideally at the elementary or middle school level
- Prior experience in a leadership or administrative role preferred
- Strong understanding of instructional best practices, child development, and academic planning
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to fostering a warm, respectful, and collaborative school culture
- Comfort working in a Jewish day school environment and embracing its values
