Job Summary
Set up, operate, and tend various machines to ensure efficient production of quality books as assigned.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and tend the Corona and Kolbus Binder trimmer. Also serves as a backup operator on binders and casing in lines (CT100, Diamant 1 and Diamant2).
- Review work orders, specifications, and job samples to determine components, settings, and adjustments.
- Start machines to verify set ups and make necessary adjustments.
- Prepare and load materials.
- Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and report and resolve issues.
- Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
- Provide work direction to hand operators assigned to machine.
- Perform general maintenance on machine.
- Provide training on machine and provide feedback to supervisors regarding progress of trainees.
- Continually identify, develop, and implement improvements in work processes.
- Consistently and effectively serve as a positive role model by living Sheridan's core values.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to dust, dirt, noise, and physical hazards of machinery, plus some exposure to fumes, oils, lubricants, and chemicals. Position requires ability to move with ease in the production area; remain in stationary position for prolonged periods of time on concrete / hard surface; use hands and fingers constantly for handling, gripping, and manipulating product; constantly position oneself to complete work including bending, twisting, rotating, and reaching; and move product weighing up to 75 pounds.
