Job Summary:
The Material Yard Organizer is a non-exempt position responsible for ensuring that materials, equipment, and supplies within a yard or warehouse are efficiently organized, stored, and managed. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining order and supporting smooth operations for companies that deal with large quantities of materials or products.
Essential Tasks:
· Sort and categorize materials by type, size, and other specifications.
· Ensure proper labeling and tagging of materials for easy identification.
· Store materials in designated areas according to organizational systems and priorities.
· Keep accurate records of material inventory in the yard, ensuring quantities and locations are tracked.
· Conduct regular inventory checks and reconcile any discrepancies between physical stock and records.
· Monitor material usage and report low stock levels to management.
· Assist with the safe loading and unloading of materials from trucks or containers.
· Move materials throughout the yard using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other machinery (if trained).
· Organize and consolidate materials for easy retrieval when needed for orders or shipments.
· Maintain a clean and organized yard by removing debris, ensuring clear pathways, and organizing tools and equipment.
· Inspect materials for damage or deterioration and report issues to the supervisor.
· Ensure that materials are stored in a manner that minimizes the risk of damage and complies with safety regulations.
· Other duties as requested.
Qualifications
· Organizational skills to keep materials arranged in a logical and efficient way.
· Basic material handling skills, including the ability to move and stack materials safely.
· Attention to detail for accurate inventory management and organization.
· Communication skills to interact with team members and report issues or updates.
· Safety-conscious mindset to ensure that materials are stored and handled safely.
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge and abilities listed qualifies.
· High School Diploma or Equivalent.
· 1 years’ experience in material, warehouse, and/or inventory management.
· 1 years' experience operating heavy equipment, such as forklifts and telehandlers.
· Class A CDL Driver License preferred.
Working Conditions
· This job requires the ability to lift, pull, and push up to 50 lbs; bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat twist, and climb heavy equipment several times throughout the day, and balance at heights up to 6 feet from ground level. In addition, you must have the ability to be on your feet regularly and use hands, arms, and legs repeatedly on the job. This includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces, as well as working in confined areas.
· Must be able to climb on and off heavy equipment safety.
· This job requires the ability to perform essential tasks in less than favorable conditions. These may include but are not limited to: Performing strenuous work in varying temperatures, humidity, sand, wind, or other extreme inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time.
· Work may be performed in an environment with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel fumes, vapors, dust, grease and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and exposure to moving equipment.
Work Hours: The normal work hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm, with required overtime when needed.
