Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and underwrite garage-related risks, including auto dealers, repair shops, service garages, and parking facilities
- Analyze submissions and determine eligibility, pricing, and terms based on underwriting guidelines
- Maintain and expand a profitable book of business by developing strong relationships with agents and brokers
- Provide competitive quotes and underwriting proposals while maintaining high-quality standards
- Work with surplus lines carriers and internal teams to find creative solutions for complex risks
- Evaluate policy terms, conditions, and endorsements to ensure proper risk coverage
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions impacting garage liability underwriting
- Collaborate with internal teams to streamline processes and support overall business growth
- Required:
- Prior experience in garage liability underwriting or related commercial auto underwriting
- Strong analytical and risk assessment skills with the ability to evaluate various garage-related exposures
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to build and maintain broker relationships
- Proficiency in underwriting software, rating tools, and industry databases
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- High school diploma required
- Preferred:
- Experience in excess & surplus lines underwriting
- Bachelor's degree (not mandatory)
- Knowledge of state-specific garage liability requirements and regulatory compliance
