Lead Operator/Line Chief Needed- Kansas City, MO (64161)
CKS Packaging, Inc., a leader and growing manufacturer of rigid plastic containers is looking for an experienced a Line Chief/Lead Operator (Aoki, Uniloy, Grupo, Rocheleau, and Kautex experience is a plus) to join one of our plants in Kansas City, MO. Pay rates will depend on skills and experience.

Responsibilities:
- Ensure that machine operators are assigned and in place at start of shift
- Provide direction and training for operators
- Perform plant start-up and shutdown procedures
- Ensure that production equipment is operating to optimum efficiency
- Start and stop production equipment as needed
- Start and stop support equipment as needed (i.e. grinders, compressors, chillers, etc.)
- Break down grinders to clear jams
- Make parison weight adjustments both manually and using the PLC
- Make parison program adjustments using the PLC
- Make parison swing adjustments
- Adjust material system settings as required
- Monitor and maintain material levels. Troubleshoot and correct material flow issues (i.e. running out of material)
- Maintain all downstream labeling equipment
- Set up blow pin heights and adjust blow pin cushion speed as required
- Calibrate carriage and transport stations
- Clean ink jet coders as required
- Make extruder speed, inflate air, and support air adjustments as needed
- Complete daily operator machine report and update machine downtime log as needed
- Maintain Operation Excellence standards of housekeeping- sweeping, mopping, wiping down equipment where necessary
- Troubleshoot and repair processing issues
- Assist in changeovers as needed
- Monitor finished product flow from extruder to packaging equipment. Be able to clear jams and resume process flow as needed
- Monitor and maintain material levels
- Assist utility and packaging employees and assist in giving breaks as needed
- Fill in when Production Supervisor is absent and complete all required reports and paperwork
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in plant operations and processing of HDPE containers or related products/industries
- Familiarity with blow molding/dairy bottle experience is a plus (Aoki, Uniloy, Grupo, Rocheleau and Kautex)
- Familiarity with plant tools and equipment
- Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work well with others and communicate effectively
- Bilingual- English/Spanish is a plus
