Job overview
We are actively seeking a motivated and skilled Machine Control Technician/Surveyor to join our paving division. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of surveying and machine control equipment on our paving projects. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering precision results.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, calibrate, and maintain surveying and machine control equipment on paving machinery, including pavers, motor graders, and rover poles.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and construction crews to ensure accurate and efficient operation of machine control systems.
- Conduct pre-job surveys and layout using Total Stations, GPS, and other surveying equipment to establish control points and project boundaries.
- Perform regular inspections and troubleshooting of equipment to identify and resolve technical issues.
- Train and support construction crews in the proper use of machine control systems and surveying techniques.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, calibration, and project data.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in surveying or construction technology preferred.
- Proven experience in surveying, machine control, or related field, preferably in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting surveying equipment such as Total Stations, GPS receivers, and laser levels.
- Familiarity with machine control systems, including Trimble, Topcon, or Leica, is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
