CL Construction is seeking a Fabrication Shop Manager to manage daily production, supervise staff, and ensure that products meet quality and customer expectations. Reporting directly to the Millwright Manager, you will be responsible for inventory management, materials ordering, operational efficiency, and scheduling production. This role requires critical thinking, problem-solving, and strong decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Fabrication Shop to drive growth and efficiency.
- Train, mentor, and develop fabrication team members.
- Oversee daily labor planning and task assignments.
- Implement and improve training programs for staff.
- Monitor work duties to ensure schedules and quality standards are met.
- Drive process improvements and optimize shop operations.
- Enforce safety, quality, and production standards.
- Manage inventory, ordering, and material tracking.
- Ensure the Fabrication Department stays on budget and schedule.
- Monitor production output and make necessary adjustments.
- Maintain discipline to procedures per safety, quality, engineering, HR, and finance guidelines.
- Adapt to changing priorities and job requirements while ensuring materials arrive on time.
- Streamline internal ordering and maintenance procedures.
Qualifications:
- Fabrication or related experience required; construction experience preferred.
- Hands-on experience with press brakes and plasma tables required.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication processes and workflow improvements preferred.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to prioritize competing requirements and balance company needs.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
