Hood Territory seeks a dynamic and experienced Regional Tourism Coordinator to lead initiatives that showcase the Mt. Hood and Columbia River Gorge region's unmatched beauty, attractions, and cultural heritage.


The Regional Tourism Coordinator is a multifaceted position requiring expertise in tourism marketing, destination management, project management, and stakeholder engagement. You will manage the Regional Destination Management Organization (RDMO) for the Mt. Hood and Columbia River Gorge region, which is one of Travel Oregon's seven tourism regions. This includes leading regional marketing campaigns, creating engaging content, and fostering relationships with industry partners across Clackamas, Multnomah, Hood River, and Wasco Counties, as well as at the state level. Additionally, you will lead sustainable tourism efforts, oversee contractors and partnerships, and represent the region in domestic and international markets.


This position presents a unique opportunity for you to significantly impact one of Oregon's most highly visited regions. Branded as Experience Mt. Hood and the Gorge, this program uses responsible visitor management to build awareness for the region as a multi-day and year-round travel destination that benefits all communities. The mission is to continuously and creatively address the challenges of being a mature destination surrounded by small communities and neighbors Oregon's largest metro area. Challenges include congested roadways, over-visited sites, imbalance of community visitation, and workforce development and training needs. This is accomplished by establishing regular feedback channels to learn from community and industry representatives to be better equipped to design global marketing, PR, destination development and global sales tactics in order to address these complex challenges and convert them to opportunities.


The Regional Tourism Coordinator will lead in developing and executing comprehensive marketing and management strategies to promote and develop tourism in the Mt. Hood and Columbia River Gorge region. This includes creating and overseeing campaigns highlighting the region's unique attractions and crafting compelling content for websites, promotional materials, and social media platforms. The coordinator will collaborate closely with local Destination Marketing Organizations, government agencies, and private stakeholders to ensure the success of tourism initiatives.


The position requires overseeing contractors, managing budgets, distilling data and research, and analyzing program outcomes to maximize the return on investment. The coordinator will represent the region at industry trade shows, sales missions, and public events, ensuring the Mt. Hood and Columbia River Gorge area maintains a strong presence within the tourism industry. In addition, this role involves advancing sustainable tourism development and serving as a trusted advisor to community partners and stakeholders seeking to develop or enhance tourism opportunities.

Pay And Benefits

Annual Pay Range: $87,447.48 - $110,710.34
