Description

The Re-engagement Coach reports to the Assistant Vice President for Student Development and provides reengagement coaching strategies to assist reentry students (stop-outs) resolve personal, emotional, economical, and social challenges that interfere with their adjustment to and their ability to enjoy the benefits of the educational process; supports stop-out students in building skills, behaviors, and habits that contribute to academic success, persistence, and completion; assist stop-out students in being re-engaged in the campus culture; provide high touch points to include creating a learning community for stop-outs; works with core staff in developing degree completion intervention plans, and data-driven decisions; collaborate with faculty, advisors, mentors, administrators, and other campus personnel; guides students in academic and career planning; and offers individualized support to help meet their academic and career goals; as well as support their transition back to college.  Reengagement Coaches will be responsible for developing academic degree and success plan, managing, and tracking their progress, analyzing problems, developing solutions, and forecasting outcomes. Creates and maintain appropriate records and documentation for each student, collects and evaluates data including grades, tracks students’ progress and performance, provides outreach and early interventions, and refers students for personal, educational, and career counseling. Reviews transcripts, certifications, credit for prior learning, and other documents to identify approved credits and evaluates courses to determine the most appropriate path to accelerate degree completion and success. Supports students in navigating their academic experience by assisting with proactive academic planning, creative problem solving, and timely connection to academic and non-academic resources. Communicates with students face-to-face, by phone, via email or zoom, and other software to maintain contact and establish rapport. The Re-Engagement Coach coordinates and supports other phases of the project, collaborates continuously with key offices on campus to connect students to resources across the University and within the community. Must comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) as well as with all university procedures and policies. Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.

Qualifications


(Minimum):  A bachelor’s degree required; counseling, education, psychology, or a closely related field is preferred. Some experience with coaching as advising, teaching, career services, financial aid, admissions, student success, counseling, student affairs office is preferred. Must demonstrate strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational, communication, marketing, and customer service skills and willingness to work in a team-oriented environment. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Jenzabar, and related Enterprise Resources Programs (ERPs) is required. The equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered. Must have experience working with stop-out, at-risk, and/or minority students or students who have been historically underrepresented. 

Experience in leveraging passion and dedication for student success into measurable outcomes that improve the student’s overall college experience. Knowledgeable of best practices for student retention and success and prior work experience with stop-out student populations. Ability to coach students, provide direction and guidance, build a trusting relationship, work independently and with colleagues in a team effort, maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the needs of diverse populations, work in a fast-paced environment, respond well under pressure, and adapt to change required. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, handle and prioritize simultaneous work assignments, and exercise sound judgement required. Must possess exceptional listening, organizational, problem-solving, decision making, creativity, oral and written communication, and interpersonal relation skills. Must be able to develop and maintain databases and reports, analyze data, and use appropriate and accessible technologies to diversify delivery methods of coaching. Understanding of student development theory and current re-engagement/success coaching methodologies a plus. Must have a commitment to serve and help students to achieve academic success. 

Salary : $45,000 - $50,000
