Job Summary:
A well-established, dynamic firm of trial lawyers is hiring an experience paralegal in Las Vegas, Nevada to work on one of our litigation teams. The Litigation Paralegal works alongside attorneys during all phases of the litigation process, from the time a case gets transferred from claims to the discovery period through trial and post-trial findings and appeals. The Litigation Paralegal assists the litigation team to ensure all deadlines are met, appointments are scheduled and put on the calendar, and all files and documents are saved and organized. The Litigation Paralegal is also responsible for client communication.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of Rules and Systems
- Be familiar with court rules (NRCP, EDCR, ADR, NAR, etc)
- Know deadlines and where to find deadlines
- Be familiar with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ensure Deadlines Are Met
- Statute of limitations (work with Claims Department to coordinate deadlines)
- Coordinate and schedule Early Case Conference pursuant to NRCP 1
- Timely produce all initial discovery
- Arbitration Selection List (arbitration cases only)
- Draft and File EAC, ECC, Joint Case Conference Report and supplements
- Written discovery responses (coordinate with client)
- Deadlines to Amend pleadings/add parties (coordinate with attorneys)
- Expert disclosure deadlines (initial and rebuttal, coordinate with attorneys and experts)
- Discovery cutoff (ensure all necessary discovery has been completed, includes depositions, subpoenas on third parties, )
- Pre-trial deadlines (pre-trial disclosures, pre-trial conference, motions in limine, motions for judicial notice, calendar call, pre-trial briefs, )
- Trial deadlines (any applicable trial deadlines)
- Any other applicable litigation deadlines
- Client Communication
- Maintain client communication and provide frequent client case status updates
- Meet with client to go over discovery responses
- Coordinate client appearances (i.e., depositions, court appearances) with client
- Trial, Arbitration, Mediation Prep
- Coordinate scheduling arbitration/mediation
- Ensure client appearance
- Coordinate witness appearances and subpoenas
- Prepare exhibits for trial/arbitration/mediation
- Prepare pre-trial motions and arbitration/mediation statements
- Organize Filings and Disclosures
- Bates-stamp, redact, duplicate and index documents
- Set up and maintain files which are organized chronologically, numerically and/or by subject matter. Work with administrative staff on electronic productions
- Under the guidance of an attorney, categorize documents by subject matter, prepare a chronology of facts and create production charts, as needed
- Organize and prepare all discovery productions
- Prepare and organize documents and exhibits for pleadings, motions, depositions, hearings and trials. Includes preparation of exhibit binders, when
- Organize all other documents and document productions as necessary for
- Draft Documents and File and Serve Documents
- Letters for attorney review
- Begin draft of written discovery requests and responses
- Draft discovery documents such as ECC disclosures and supplements, JCCR, deposition notices
- File and serve documents such as motions, oppositions, discovery, correspondence
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities (If required):
- Oversee discovery paralegal and medical records specialist
Required Education and Experience:
- Associates Degree or Certificate in Paralegal Studies
- 5 years personal injury litigation experience
- Experience with Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Experience with Adobe products
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelors in Paralegal Studies
