JOB SUMMARY
Applicant must be capable of filling the role of Systems Engineer or Monitor Engineer for regional events as needed. Typical events include festivals, large scale arena shows, and corporate events. During weeks when applicant is not working events, the applicant will be required to work 40 hours per week in the shop. Listed pay range is for shop work. Event pay will be separate at a higher rate and is dependent on position.
The Systems Engineer is responsible for the design of the sound system in software simulation, the optimization in that software, ensuring the system is deployed as designed and the final optimization / tuning of that system in the venue. The SE will manage and oversee assigned company employees on show in the installation and operation of the concert sound system and peripheral equipment according to the company procedures and safety policies. The SE has the overall responsibility and authority of the system operations and company road staff assigned to the specific event. The SE is the principal liaison in the field between the company and the client if filling the role of Crew Chief.
The Monitor Engineer is responsible for ensuring the monitor system, RF, Com systems and stage systems are deployed and operating as designed. The Monitor Engineer (ME) is an intermediate position that requires the ability to solve technical problems in the field typical to both Level 1 and Level 2 duties. The ME becomes the principal assistant to the Crew Chief on the audio team. The Monitor Engineer primarily focuses on the assembly, operation and disassembly of the monitor system which may include but not limited to mixing consoles, floor wedges, IEM system and other wireless devices, Com systems, as well as any other required peripheral equipment. However, assistance to all audio system installations may be required. This acquired skill set may require being assigned on a project as the sole Clair representative.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and / or ability required to perform the essential functions of this job while exercising appropriate levels of judgment and discretion.
- At least 5 years of field experience working with professional audio equipment and has completed the basic levels of company protocol training including safety management in the field.
- Possess a strong knowledge of equipment logistical practices.
- Has successfully shown ability to work with other crew members and client productions effectively without issues. Possess strong teamwork ethics.
- Has consistently displayed the ability to maintain technical education commensurate to company equipment operating requirements.
- Possess strong technical troubleshooting abilities.
- Has demonstrated compliance with company safety protocols.
- Has consistently displayed team leadership qualities.
- Possess a strong knowledge of company / client relationships.
- Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must be able to travel internationally without issue and have a valid passport.
- Must be able to lift at least 50lbs, stand and work for long periods of time.

Working Conditions :
Work is typically performed in the field. Normal working show days consists of long hours as needed to complete task. Exposure to all weather conditions including heat, cold, rain and snow. Some heavy lifting is required as is standing for long periods of time. Kneeling, squatting, bending, lifting over the head, pulling, and pushing equipment is routine some of which is heavy. Long work weeks can be expected during the busy season with shop prep and field work sometimes exceeding 60 hours a week.
