Role Overview
The Behavioral Health Care Clinician will be responsible for delivering mental health care within the clinic and for organizing referrals to clinically indicated services outside the clinic. The Clinician may provide evidence-based treatments or work with other mental health providers when such treatment is indicated. Position will provide supervision hours to Mental Health Care Interns therefore candidate must be fully licensed to provide psychotherapy in the State of California (LMFT, LPPC or LCSW). This position will function as a provider to deliver mental health services and will refer to partner agencies when needed. All services to be delivered in both English and Spanish as needed. This position will assist the Associate Director in leading mental health efforts in the Agency.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and care coordination for mental health services.
- Screen and assess patients for mental health disorders, provide education on treatment options, and monitor clinical symptoms and treatment side effects.
- Support psychotropic medication management prescribed by PCPs or psychiatrists, ensuring adherence, monitoring side effects, and evaluating effectiveness.
- Provide evidence-based brief interventions (e.g., Behavioral Activation, Problem-Solving Treatment, Motivational Interviewing) and facilitate referrals for additional psychosocial treatments (e.g., CBT, IPT).
- Document patient progress, treatment plans, and clinical outcomes in a registry to ensure effective care coordination.
- Supervise interns and participate in case consultations with psychiatric consultants to guide treatment plans, particularly for patients not improving as expected.
- Facilitate referrals for external services (e.g., social services, vocational rehabilitation, or substance abuse treatment) and assist with program structuring and performance evaluation as needed.
- Attend required trainings and meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
