Under direct supervision of the Jail Nurse Manager, the Registered Nurse will develop, initiate and coordinate the patient plan of care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in collaboration with the healthcare team and in compliance with all agency, local, state, federal laws and regulations.
This job is performed in a correctional facility which includes minimum, medium, or maximum-security levels. This role routinely requires interaction with persons served in providing medical or mental health assessment, care and medication. Employees are exposed to some level of risk and/or harm by persons served including exposure to blood borne pathogens. Employee is expected to work in accordance with all security rules and regulations to minimize the risk of danger and/or harm to themselves or other employees. Employees assigned to this classification work independently with minimal supervision. Work assignments are both general and specific in nature and are received in both verbal and written form. Instructions received define overall objectives, with some specificity regarding how to proceed with assignments.

The compensation for this position ranges from $44.77 [Starting Wage] to $54.54 [Top Wage] per hour. This salary structure is based on the County’s 9-step pay scale, with compensation starting at Step 1 demonstrating entry-level pay,

- Disqualifier for Deputy Sheriff and Corrections Deputy
- Civil Service Commission Application for Examination
Education/Training
- B.S.N. degree or related advanced nursing degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Associates Degree from an approved nursing program for RN required.
- Current Washington State Registered Nurse License
- Licenses must be maintained in an active status without suspension or revocation throughout
- Prefer a minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience.
