Description
The Jail Physician provides comprehensive medical care to incarcerated individuals, ensuring adherence to established clinical protocols and correctional healthcare standards. Responsibilities include evaluating and treating patients during scheduled clinic hours, reviewing and cosigning therapeutic orders, and documenting all inmate encounters in the electronic medical record (Epic) using the SOAP format. The physician responds to medical emergencies, prescribes medications within formulary guidelines, and coordinates referrals for specialized care when necessary. Additionally, they supervise healthcare staff, uphold infection control protocols, and maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with legal and ethical standards. The role requires collaboration with corrections personnel, participation in interdisciplinary meetings, and the ability to work under high-stress conditions while maintaining security clearance.
