What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker position at Clallam Transit System?
Position Overview
Under the direction of the maintenance manager or designee, the maintenance worker I performs maintenance department activities including fueling, washing, and cleaning transit vehicles; as well as maintaining transit properties and facilities. May also receive task direction and training from the Maintenance Worker II and receive assignments and direction from lead personnel. Provides critical contributions to support Clallam Transit System’s (CTS) mission.
Required Qualifications
A high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate (GED) AND one year of experience in the practices of facilities maintenance OR one year of experience fueling and inspecting fleet vehicles and/or equipment. Ability to obtain a valid WA commercial driver’s license (CDL) with proper endorsements and Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certificate within the probationary period.
Compensation
Starting wage is $26.51 per hour, moving to $28.16 per hour after successful completion of the 180-day probationary period. Employees receive pay increases on their anniversaries up to $34.46 (2024-2026 wage scale) and annual cost of living increases.
Working Conditions
Paid training is provided at Clallam Transit System for obtaining the required commercial driver license (CDL). This is a safety-sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with CTS policy and federal regulations. Represented by the Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 587.
