This role involves operating heavy machinery to support construction projects. The position requires working at diverse job sites, often in varying weather conditions, and in environments with dust, noise, and heavy equipment.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate Heavy Equipment: Safely and efficiently operate machinery such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and forklifts to meet project requirements.
- Equipment Maintenance and Inspection: Conduct regular inspections of equipment, identify any potential maintenance issues, and ensure machinery is in proper working order before and after use.
- Adhere to Safety Standards: Follow established safety protocols and industry regulations to minimize accident risk, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe operating practices.
- Site Preparation and Grading: Prepare and level job sites by moving soil, rocks, and other materials to ensure areas are properly graded and ready for construction or landscaping work.
- Documentation and Reporting: Keep accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance activities, and any incidents, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Team Coordination and Communication: Work closely with site supervisors, team members, and other equipment operators to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience with Heavy Machinery: Proven ability to operate heavy equipment, such as bulldozers, excavators, cranes, or similar machinery, with proficiency and safety.
- Physical Stamina: Capable of working in physically demanding conditions, including long hours of machine operation. Must be able to tolerate extended periods of sitting with jarring and bouncing motion, and remain active for approximately 80% of the time while operating machinery. Must pass a pre-employment physical assessment.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on precision when controlling equipment and maintaining awareness of surroundings to avoid accidents or damage.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Skilled at identifying and troubleshooting minor mechanical issues independently to keep equipment running smoothly.
- Safety-Conscious: In-depth knowledge of safety protocols, hazard identification, and best practices in construction or industrial environments. Must be committed to working safely, following all safety guidelines, and wearing required protective gear. Must also pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Education: High school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Certifications: OSHA safety certification or other relevant training preferred.
