What are the responsibilities and job description for the SURGICAL TECHNICIAN position at CLARA BARTON HOSPITAL?
The Surgical Technician works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse to assist surgeons during operative and invasive procedures. Participates in the delivery of safe and effective care to the patient during the intraoperative period with excellent aseptic technique. Must be able to reprocess endoscopes following designated guidelines. Must be able to adapt to the department workflow established for the surgical technologist. Can work independently as a self-starter but can work as a cooperative team member. Demonstrate effective communication skills and facilitate harmonious interpersonal relationships with other members of the healthcare team. Monitors PAR level of all surgical instruments and supplies. Participates in room turn over. Participates in the cleaning and sterilization of the surgical instrumentation. Participates in taking call for the department. Participates in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities. Effectively interacts with patients and health care team members, while maintaining Surgical Services Department standards.
