Requirements
- MSN or MSN in Education
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in specialty required
- Perioperative experience required
- Experience in education or staff development required
- Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing
Preferred:
- Certification in Nursing Professional Development preferred
- Completion of Clinical experience in NLN accredited school preferred
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- CNOR Certification
- BLS and ACLS
- Active NJ RN license or compact RN license with NJ endorsement
Scheduling Requirements:
- Day Shift
- Monday-Friday
- Full Time 40 hours per week
Essential Functions:
- The Perioperative Nurse Educator is a registered professional nurse who has the expertise in both the Perioperative clinical setting and nursing professional development and education.
- The Perioperative Nurse Educator must have an in-depth understanding and management of a wide scope of surgical patients i.e. general surgery, robotics, neurosurgery, gynecological, orthopedic, cardiac, trauma.
- The Perioperative Nurse Educator is a member of the Nursing Leadership team and supports the Organization s Mission, Vision, and Values, and actively participates in the shared governance process.
- The Perioperative Nurse Educator is responsible and accountable for the development and application of the Standards of Care and policies and procedures of Clara Maass Medical Center-RWJBH, in an effort to enhance the quality of care provided to patients and families.
- The primary function is that of an educator, practitioner, consultant and change agent.
- The Perioperative Nurse Educator assesses data relevant to the learner s progress, and interprets the appropriate information necessary to develop group and individual learning plans.
- The Perioperative Nurse Educator is a clinical expert with abilities to foster the clinical development of the staff that she/he guides.
- The Perioperative Nurse Educator will assist in the onboarding, orientation and clinical practice evaluation of the RNs and professional employees in the OR, Ambulatory Care Center, and Labor and Delivery ORs.
- The Nurse Educator will participate in the Nurse Residency Program.
- Qualified applicants for this role need demonstrated clinical competency in the Perioperative environment consistent with the Association of Peri-Operative Nursing Standards of Practice.
- The Nurse Educator may assist in other departments as clinically requested by nursing leadership.
