Brand Specialist
A designated individual who will be the liaison for all Clare Rose Suppliers (with the exception of HUSA and ABI) and will be responsible for promoting / representing the Suppliers’ vision and strategies to succeed throughout the organization translated through trade execution.
The Brand Specialist is an exempt position serving as the conduit for our Supplier partners driving their competitive needs through day-to-day operating supervision and control (Implementing / Developing) over program activation and field marketing execution for specific Brands and Products. This will include but not limited to channel programming, account activation, sampling activity, advertising, marketing, merchandising, brand promotion and key customer planning.
The Brand Specialist reports to the VP of Sales & Marketing
Primary Objectives & Job Responsibilities:
The role will be responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating Off and On premise execution strategies through the line. In conjunction, program management and account activation management will be a key function of the role. The need to establish a strong business relationship with each Supplier partner (and their local team) to ensure Brand strategies are effectively communicated and understood across the Clare Rose sales organization.
· Drive Supplier Volume and Profit performance across the organization to meet/exceed annual business targets by supporting each Director with tactical plans, cascading critical information and supplying sales materials needed for each supplier / brand
· Identify and Prioritize Supplier / Brand opportunities based on market / account potential by class of trade, volume group, and demographic make-up.
· Establish Tactical plans in conjunction with your supplier partner to close gaps and capitalize on any opportunities which exist for any selected supplier / brand in correlation with your Directors and SEC.
· Track goals and execution in tandem with assigned supplier for respective supplier products in concert with our mutual brand/package objectives.
o Lead monthly supplier meetings to track goals and close gaps
o Cascade critical communications to sales leaders and teams
o Organize supplier sales meetings to present brand and program plans
o Coordinate incentive approval and launch between supplier, VP and sales leaders.
o Liaison between the Clare Rose Inventory manager and Supplier to ensure a inventory levels are at the desired levels
· Programming and Retail execution
o Develop execution plans to drive incremental business through key retail accounts by controlling display activity, enhancers, distribution, shelf sets and P.O.S. penetration.
o Period Programming for each Channel (Period 1-6)
o Oversee supplier POS management
· Communication
o Coordinate reports, meetings and sales calls. Develop internal communication process to make appropriate members of the sales staff aware of pertinent information regarding specific supplier / brand plans and programs to account level. Effectively communicate with other multiple suppliers and multiple departments around work related topics. Role requires strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively relay the Supplier /Brand strategies and Market Positions.
· Establishing and or implementing brand strategies across the marketplace through a tactical planning approach that is channel driven. Requires the ability to comprehend and dissect preexisting supplier brand plans and strategies in order to communicate and cascade throughout our Sales Org for execution
Development of the Brand Specialist Position
· The Brand Specialist position will require continuous education and product knowledge. As Clare Rose adjusts, changes, or acquires new brands, this position will need to understand these brands, their origin, flavor profile and product placement needs.
· Remain versed on all aspects of Route Accounting System, Warehouse Management and Mobile applications (Encompass)
Brand Specialist Requirements
· Must be at least 21 years of age
· Broad knowledge and experience in beverage sales including marketing and promotional aspects.
· A demonstrated ability to sell an upscale and/or imported food, alcohol, spirits product in an on-premise environment.
· Enthusiastic, Team player interested in positive company growth.
· Knowledge of draught systems and proper beer dispensing.
· Effective Sales Presentation skills.
· Strong Organizational skills.
· Must possess strong math, analytical and time management skills.
· Excellent oral and written communications skills (Interacts well with Internal & External Customers).
· Excellent computer skills in working with email and communications (Microsoft Outlook), Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Encompass
· Knowledge of SLA Rules & Regulations.
· A clear understanding of Company policies and the ability to adhere to them.
· The ability to meet all Clare Rose standard employment requirements.
Education and Experience
· Minimum of an Associates degree or equivalent in Business or Marketing or Beverage Industry experience preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
· Candidate must be able to obtain a New York State Liquor Authority Solicitor Permit and maintain proper requirements thereof.
· Cicerone Certification – Minimum Certified Cicerone Server.

While performing the duties of this job in the office environment, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. In addition, the exposure while in customer locations cannot be projected. These conditions may vary, and the employee will receive adequate training to recognize and avoid hazards that cannot be described as expected. Noise levels will range from quiet to loud.
