Claremont Country Club has an opening for a Part-Time Assistant Aquatics Supervisor. Compensation is $21/hour with lesson commissions. Hours of position will vary depending upon club business to include weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Summary:
The Assistant Aquatics Supervisor reports to the Aquatics Manager and is responsible for assisting the Aquatics Manager in the entire pool operation, including the safe and effective use of chemicals, swimming instruction, the club’s master swim team and the summer camp operation. Supervise a safe, clean, well-maintained and appealing club swimming facilities.
Claremont Country Club is a welcoming and unique property located in the Oakland Hills. It was founded in 1897 as the Oakland Golf Club down by Lake Merritt and moved up the hill to its current home in 1903. Claremont is a member owned club with 825 Members. Our golf course is an Allister Mackenzie course which was completely refurbished 10 years ago. We also have 7 tennis courts, a large aquatics complex, fitness facility and a very social membership with a busy events schedule. Claremont is rich in history and tradition with a tradition of being warm and welcoming to members and guests.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience
- Maintains all proper certifications and training for self and pool staff.
- Previous experience as an Assistant Aquatics Manager or Senior Lifeguard at a club of comparable size and stature.
- Competitive swimming experience as either a coach or athlete preferred but not essential.
- Lifeguard training and experience teaching swim lesson required.
- Private club experience preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in pool chemistry, operation and management.
- Understanding of specific state and local laws and statutes regarding pool safety and inspections.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform personal role in emergency situations.
Licenses and Special Requirements
- Must have current Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate.
- Red Cross progressive Swimming Instructor Certificate Desirable.
- American Red Cross Basic First Aid required, training on AED units and possession of a current Red Cross CPR card.
- Pool Operator certification desirable.
- Certified Pool/Spa Operator (CPO) offered by the National Swimming Pool Foundation desirable.
- The Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) offered by the National Recreation and Park Association desirable.
- Lifeguard certification offered by the American Red Cross strongly recommended.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Working conditions are often, hot, humid, slippery and wet.
- Able to work in a busy, noisy environment.
- Able to tolerate the smell of chlorine and frequent exposure to cleaning agents.
- Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment, which is typical of this position.
- Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
- Frequent repetitive motions.
- Continuous standing and walking.
