Production Assistant

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Production Assistant to join our team at New Jersey's largest craft distillery, a passionate and innovative craft distillery. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the production of high-quality spirits, from grain to glass. As a Production Assistant, you will support all aspects of our distillation process, ensuring efficiency, quality control, and the smooth operation of daily tasks. If you have a strong interest in the craft beverage industry and are eager to learn about distillation, fermentation, and bottling, this position is perfect for you.

Duties

· Assist the head distiller in day-to-day operation of the distillery including mashing, fermenting, and distilling.

· Proofing of spirits for both bottling and barreling

· Manage bottling operations including filtering, filling, labeling, corking, sealing, and packing.

· Proofing of spirits for bottling and barreling

· Fill and harvest barrels

· Managing inventory of supplies (bottles, corks, capsules, grains, etc.) and finished products.

· Washing and sanitizing equipment

· Cleaning and maintenance of production area and gear

· Safely operate forklift moving product/materials in and around production area

· Loading/unloading trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, or dollies.

· Preventive maintenance of equipment including the boiler

· Monitor water quality

· Maintain accurate production, processing, and storage record

General Abilities/Requirements

· Must be able to lift 60 lbs. (bags of grain for example) repeatedly.

· Mechanically Inclined and/or scientific (biology/chemistry) background

· Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

· Positive disposition, good with people (co-workers and visitors).

· Proactive and takes initiative

· Excellent with details and organization of workspace.

· Interest in craft distilling.

· Working around boiling mash/steam and handling high temperature hoses

· Meeting deadlines and production goals

· Flexibility in schedule and changing priorities, including but not limited to extended hours, nights, and weekends.

· Computer literacy will require use of, but not limited to, email, MS Word, MS Excel, recordkeeping software.

· Must have a valid driver’s license.
