POSITION: LONG-TERM SUBSTITUTE 1st GRADE TEACHER

POSITION TITLE: Long-Term Substitute 1st Grade Teacher
LOCATION: Clarendon Elementary School
START & END DATE:START DATE: On or about September 8, 2025
END DATE: January 2, 2026
SUPERVISED BY: Building Principal
BASIC FUNCTION: The substitute will provide all aspects of classroom instruction normally carried out by the classroom
teacher, during the duration of time of the teacher’s absence.
WORKS WITH: Students, Parents, Teachers, Support Staff, and Administration
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. The candidate will need to pass all applicable background checks and fingerprint requirements.
2. The candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree or higher, within any discipline, with preference given to those candidates who hold a degree in a field of education or related discipline.
3. The candidate must possess the ability to manage the needs of large and small groups of students within a fast-paced school environment.
4. The candidate must be able to balance the ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders with the ability to work independently, to fulfill the basic function of the position.
5. The candidate must possess a high degree of organization and the ability to multi-task.
6. The candidate must possess the ability to use a computer as well as basic applications and programs such as email, data-entry programs, Google Docs, etc.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. The candidate will implement instruction across all areas of the curriculum, in accordance with the district’s curricula.
2. The candidate will provide positive behavior interventions and supports to students.
3. The candidate will attend and actively participate in a variety of meetings including but not limited to faculty meetings and meetings of educational teams.
4. The candidate will administer classroom-based assessments in accordance with the district’s curricula and Local Common Assessment Plan.
5. The candidate will work in collaboration with other school staff in order to ensure the delivery of high-quality instruction and assessment.
6. The candidate will participate in district-mandated trainings and professional development opportunities including but not limited to early-release days, in-service, etc.
7. The candidate will engage in responsive, supportive, and clear communication with caregivers.
8. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Administration.
