Job Description: As a Sports Therapy Optometrist, you will work with athletes of all levels, including professional athletes and adolescents, to improve their visual performance. You will conduct specialized Sports & Performance Vision (SPV) exams, diagnose and treat vision problems, and develop customized training plans to enhance depth perception, dynamic vision acuity, eye-hand coordination, eye tracking, eye focusing, peripheral vision, visual concentration, and visual reaction time.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct comprehensive eye exams and Sports & Performance Vision (SPV) exams using specialized equipment.
• Develop and implement personalized training plans to improve athletes' visual performance.
• Prescribe sport-specific eyeglasses and contact lenses.
• Diagnose and treat eye injuries related to sports activities.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide holistic care for athletes.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in sports vision therapy and continuously improve your skill set.
Qualifications:
• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
• Licensed to practice optometry in the state of Illinois.
• Specialized training or certification in sports vision therapy is preferred but not required.
• Strong understanding of visual performance enhancement techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with athletes of all ages and skill levels.
