The Inventory Specialist is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the inventory in a Long-Term Care Pharmacy setting. Inventory Specialists must have an understanding on how to use procedural methods to investigate inventory inaccuracy which cause backorders and out of stock medication. The goal is to have adequate and accurate inventory while reducing expired product.
Location: On site at our closed-door, Cheshire CT, pharmacy (1492 Highland Ave Ste 1c, Cheshire, CT 06410)
Salary: starting at $22/hr. (dependent upon experience and license type)
Schedule: Monday thru Friday 9:00 am-5:30pm (every other Sunday)

Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate labels presented by pharmacy lead tech and supervising pharmacist.
- Provide ETA on backorders and manually ordered medication.
- Process expired medication.
- Assist receiver with shortages on packing slip and follow up with vendor and CC Purchaser on email.
- Review and enter GPI counts on spreadsheet and make status and inventory adjustments.
- Activate medications in formulary.
- Assist with maintaining the targeted par levels in all areas of the pharmacy: including bulk oral solids, Injectable medications, liquids, creams, ointments, otics, ophthalmics and other supplies.
- Place daily order requirements by vendor for items in the pharmacy to ensure availability of all products.
- Perform audit counts to maintain perpetual inventory system.
- Locate alternate local sources of products when backordered from wholesaler or other suppliers.
- Work with Inventory Supervisor to implement brand-to-generic conversions.
- All other projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; advanced certifications in pharmacy operations preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a pharmacy or fulfillment environment
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel
- Familiar with wholesale ordering systems/pharmacy dispensing systems (Frameworks, a plus).
- Purchasing/inventory experience
- Utilize reports to identify inventory discrepancies

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration and customer focus
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to meet deadlines with accuracy
- Proficiency in pharmacy software and inventory management systems
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills to address equipment faults and workflow issues
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and compliance
